T.C. has been teasing a new product for a little while now, but it was only a couple weeks ago that they officially announced what this new thing is.  Well, here it is – the HyperGravity Compressor.
Pictured here is my newest completed pedal project.  It’s the Aion Electronics Nimbus Overdrive.  Recently I had built myself a Klon clone and found it useful enough to include in my rig. If you didn’t know, the Klon is kind of known for it’s prominent mid-hump EQ. At first, I wasn’t really too crazy about this, but ultimately I decided that the contrasting nature of the Klon to my other OD tones was a good thing and this secured it a space on my board. Here’s my mini pedalboard mounted on a Pedaltrain Metro-16, one of their new offerings for 2015. Previously, I had the old Pedaltrain Mini. Apparently, my model had gone through a couple of revisions. One of them is publicly known and visually obvious. The other, more or less nobody knows about and you really can’t tell just by looking at it. What it comes down to is that my Mini doesn’t accept any non-daisychain power supplies.
  Nothing new here. Just another Sho ‘Nuff I built for my mini board. White enclosure, pink LED and black knobs (I may swap the knobs later).

The innards of this Sho ‘Nuff (I really don’t like this name) boost are the same as the one I previous posted about. As I was trying to fit the original one onto my board, I ran into an issue where the DC jack located on top was problematic. So I ordered another enclosure, redrilled all the holes, and moved the DC jack to the side. If you follow my blog…who are you? Anyway, what I was saying is…if you follow my blog, you know that I’ve owned this pedal before in the original mint green. I was really excited to try it out. But long story short, it didn’t really do it for me. I sold it. (I’ll go into some detail about how it sounded to me below)
Here’s my new compressor pedal. I really like it. Previously, I had a Boss CS-2 on the board, which is regarded by most as a pretty great compressor. I agree. Before that, I had a MXR DynaComp. I even had it modified by JHS. But it just wasn’t doing what I wanted. As great as the CS-2 was, I was really intrigued by the idea of having a blend knob on a compressor, which the Deep Six has. So I’ve finally gotten my hands on one for a good price.
This is the Voyager from Walrus Audio, and it is quite the awesome overdrive pedal. If you love the sound of your amp and are trying to find an overdrive pedal that’ll preserve that tone, this transparent overdrive is what you’re looking for. I think my personal rule of thumb for choosing a good overdrive pedal is that it is transparent. It was actually pretty tough for me to compare the Voyager with other drive boxes that I currently own because I think all of them are actually quite good at doing this (Lovepedal Amp11, Boss OD-3, Maxon ROD 881). bought a pack of LEDs of varying colors off of amazon (3mm & 5mm) and decided to swap the LEDs on a couple pedals. for the Maxon chorus I had to do this because under the stage lights — with the stock diffused red LED — it would sometimes appear that the pedal was on when it was not. for the DD-5, I just did it for fun. coming soon: most recent pedalboard arrangement and new Pedaltrain case from Brady Cases.
